Throwing a 1290 Super Adventure around in the dirt.
If motion sickness is your thing, this is the video to watch. That is no way to produce a how-to video.
Very new to all this by any chance could you tell me all the material you purchased and what you had cut off so I can go to my local Home Depot and get it cut. I have an arrow shed and my whole base is gone
For mine, I based it off two and a half full sheets (4x8) of underlayment. I did this to minimize cuts required, only split one of the sheets in half. Then the frame was two 4x4x10 and seven 2x2x8. Of the seven 2x2s I cut 8 inches off 5 of them to go between the 4x4s. Hope this helps.
What size rear tire did you go with 170 or 180?Great vid btw.
Thank you! I'm running the stock 170/60-17s.
Thx bro this actually helped a ton
Awesome. I love it when I'm able to help out others.
Braindead human
How do you fit so comfortably? My thigh is on the wheel and I lack leg room.
Yeah, it's a bit tight. I think it is the years of driving military vehicles, made me used to being uncomfortable.
I have questions, next gears 2-6 need to put clutch? And high speed or off-road can use clutch?
Clutch still retains all normal operation. Still need it to shift. Still works as a power modulator when off road. Clutch up wheelies still the same. Only difference is that I can come to a stop without using the lever. Makes slow speed moving easier.
Nice work, do you have a link to the emergency off box you got? I see you have the other parts listed. Thanks for making this!
Thanks! I did add the other parts I used to the description.
Thank you Adam!
Gee, the guy talking in the video should get a Subaru and stop talking. just sayin'!
👊 Promo sm
Very enjoyable ride. I was looking into Wimer and this was the only video about it. Thanks for sharing a bit about growing up in that area and the ways it shaped your life. Appreciated. God Bless.
Heat it up geez
I'm out of acetenyl, I did try a propane torch, but it didn't really touch it.
Looks like a great too for forks, currently unavailable though
Damn
I wish I had a dollar for every one of those 4 to 1' s I broke
that breaks ratchets! use power/breaker bar!
I just picked up the same mill and was wondering if you know a number for a replacement belt.loved the video nice work
Thank you! Yeah, the belt is pretty odd. It is a 7M900.
Some people risk their lives for nothing.
Yup
Lot of experts in these comments quick to correct you or whatever. I enjoyed the vid. Always feels nice breaking these free
Add heat?
Isn't the torque multiplier handle the wrong direction? Then the lower bar isn't needed.
Multiplier reaction bar goes the opposite direction. The lower bar is keeping the hub from spinning.
Just cut it off with a wheel. Dont cut the threads to hard. Easy. No giant wrench thing needed.
Still need the wrench when I put it back together. These torque to 360 ft-lbs. Cut off wheel was my next step if this didn't work.
@@AdamNDJ I love disceting things with a cut wheel. Got so many stuck bolts out with it. That or the torch.
That’s a torque multiplier for everyone who doesn’t know what they looking at. Usually like 3:1 so with the cheater bar on the ratchet it’s probably at least 600 ft-lbs on the nut.
It is a 4x multiplier. I was figuring about 1k lbs.
Solid 8/10 burp there
Thanks! And there wasn't even any beer involved.
I love doing manual trans work. don't get to very often in the dealer world. everything's auto tragic
Yeah, everyone has gone to line replaceable units. Even in the private sector they'd rather just throw in a whole used unit (of questionable quality) in than rebuild.
this is so exciting! Very cool to have you explaining everything to the viewer the way you do! It's like i'm right there with you!
This looks like a really cool project. Can't wait to see the final product. Also you look like Sam Hyde, I don't mean that offensively, but the similarity is there.
Thanks for watching. I'm looking forward to the finish too! Def no offense, I had to look him up, but the similarity is remarkable.
I need your help. I have 1985 VW Vanagon just like this one. My fuel pump keeps shutting off. I think it's a ground or wiring issue.
Check the pump first, it is easiest to get too. You can run a battery straight to it and see if it runs properly. While it is disconnected you can check the harness side, see if there is power and ground present. If not, you'll have to locate and check the fuel pump relay. If I remember right it is under engine cover on the left side in a black box.
Thanks so much! crossing my fingers! @@AdamNDJ
Can you put a bigger turbo on her? I've got a crosstrek but no turbo 😢
We've talked about it, but it leads down a rabbit hole. Cause for the bigger turbo to work well you need a tune, which requires a tuner. Then you need bigger injectors and a better fuel pump, then larger exhaust, and the list goes on.
@@AdamNDJisn't all that based on how much boost u run over the size of the compressor wheel?
si
Subscribed. Thank man this is exactly what i need to do on my kx450f.
What is the black spray bottle u use to clean?
Brake clean. I use the Oreilly's brand, but they are all pretty much the same stuff.
How many hours?
Thats cool
I like your mellow approach, with a touch' of humor. (I'm much to stressed about Big jobs)
I am SOOOO happy!!! All I did was put some fresh oil and straighten up the wiring and it fired right up (on the giggle juice of course). Next step it to check the fuel system.
Congratulations! I’m glad you can wrench on your own things now with much smaller and lighter tools than the military mechanical fleet. And let your creative work become reality.
Thanks. It is nice working with smaller stuff. Although, I do have a few friends that have a bunch of military equipment that I help with fairly often. Keeps the skills fresh.
I love seeing you make videos again!
What a fun video! Sooo cannot wait to see how this project ends :P
Thanks for the video. I've just lost my left hand's index and middle finger in a snowblower accident and I don't want to change my KTM 1290 SAR for an Africa Twin with DCT. I will definitely get the Rekluse for my bike. Happy to see that there is a good solution to my problem!!!
harbor freight has saved me many times as well. Gotta love em
Definitely. Plus the one here is only a couple miles away, so I don't even lose much time.
ktms are great bikes but so ugly!!!!
True, but I get over it pretty quick when ever I twist the throttle.
I’ve been saved by them Myself with 3/4 inch drive sockets for Harley clutch and compensator and multiple farm repairs. Slide hammers etc. too far to a larger vendor or tool salesman. Out here .
One thing I hated about work was waiting for the tool person to come replace something.
@@AdamNDJ yup the drawer of broken sockets ratchets and screwdriver tips
Please I need the ktm store phone number...thanks you
Enjoy ! Those are the roads for those Miata’s too. I can taste the Dungeness crab for dinner now .
Good to see you uploading. I’m still watching. ( MongosMusings)
Right on. I took a year off to get some things in line, but happy to be back at it.
I like the styling of that particular model. think it'll fit in with the Brat.. I have yet to retrieve a 99 Impreza that's free to me to.. um.. wow. battery, old gas and at least 2 CVs, 40 miles at a uphill grade. Did I mention free? before roadworthy tech.. But worth it, mad as my friends may think of my 3 years trying to move it.
Dude I cannot wait to see that brat shine! It's like a legend for me!
this is the first thing this year to get me exited. and not just slightly
Right on. It is a lofty endeavor. I am super stoked.
thank you!
